Window Coverings
Keep out the light and bring out your best with custom window coverings!
Custom window coverings are different from premade window treatments, in that you can obtain a truly personalized look with draperies, valances, cornices and Roman shades using fabrics that match or contrast with your décor. Follow these guidelines to help you understand and select the right window coverings for your home…
- Drapes: Made of fabrics in a variety of colors and patterns, drapes can be designed to complement virtually any decorating style, while adding visual warmth to the room.
- Swags: Made of soft or sheer fabric, swags can easily be draped over a decorative rod, or paired up with blinds, shades or shutters. They can also be used alone to soften a window frame.
- Roman shades: Made from a variety of fabrics loosely folded into 4"-6" horizontal pleats, Roman shades are raised and lowered with a simple system of cords and pulleys. While Roman shades offer a casual look and insulation, privacy and light control can be an issue depending on the depth of the fabric.
- Cornices: These shallow, rigid boxes are covered with custom fabric or other material, and generally used as toppers for blinds, curtains or other window treatments.
- Valances: Similar to cornices but without the box framework, valances are soft toppers that can be made from your choice of custom fabric. They can make the window and/or ceiling appear taller, and are an excellent way to hide drapery hardware.
